About

WHO WE ARE

Run Starved Rock Country is a 510(c)(3) non-for-profit organization. We started in 2016 to give the Starved Rock Country Marathon a permanent home and to dream of more races in the future.  We kicked off by hosting the Samuel Adams Starved Rock Country Marathon on May 13, 2017, which was a great success.  We added a 5K to the marathon and half marathon event in 2018 that was well received and continues to bring a wider spectrum of runners to the event. The next Starved Rock Country Marathon and Half Marathon will be May 11th, 2024 and we hope to see you there!

The mission of Run Starved Rock Country is to bring endurance tourism to Starved Rock Country and that is why a portion of the proceeds of our events go toward local projects supporting our cause. In 2018 we donated $5,000.00 towards the City of Ottawa Illinois Government re-watering of the canal project. The new waterfront will allow for paddle boats in the summer, paths for cycling and running, ice skating in the winter, and a multitude of other activities. In 2019 we made donations to the Starved Rock Cycling Association’s Pumpkin Pie Race and the 10th Annual Runners’ Crusade 5K offers scenic views of Ottawa’s beautiful River Walk and the I&M Canal while also serving as a fundraiser for the Marquette Academy Cross Country and Track & Field teams.
